I really don't like gift lists, but in planning my wedding I came to love the gift registry. Not for the way it eases and appeases greed --that is still what I don't like-- but for the way that it facilitated people who wanted to give me a gift giving me one that I could use and would like. With my tight-as-a-ship apartment and my modest needs, getting interesting and useful non-clutter is awesome.
