There's a chain (at least in Kansai) like Dunkin' Donuts that serves incredibly delicious waffles. Individual, soft, Belgian waffles, sweet enough that they must have syrup flavor baked in... and you can get them plain, chocolate dipped, in a few flavors, and so on. These saved us one morning in Nara when we (as usual) didn't have time for breakfast until we were on the run.
