Xanthi, one 'garden' over. The complex was a wonder of urban privacy. Though the gardens couldn't be larger than about four city blocks by two blocks, the small spaces were so carefully designed that a rock bluff ten feet from you actually could evoke a painting of a mountain range miles away. Or perhaps I was just happy to see greenery after four days in Shanghai.
