Light and Stone

One thing that really struck me in Sedona is that in the east, with all the forest and small hills and valleys and development, you rarely get to see the world at any distance.  Night comes upon you as a gradual dimming of the world.  At some point the sun dips below the horizon, but you rarely see the terminal line.  Out west, you rarely *miss* the terminal line, as cliffs and mountains often put you in night-like darkness while evening sunlight shines on the other side of the valley.
