  1. Cor's Secret Diary

Cor's Secret Diary

Still in Northern Bastion.

Fought some annoying little air-demony things - mephits, short blue guys with whirlwinds for feet, and a knack of blowing up fuzzy and sandblasting at people. Matsuko put an excellent faeriefire hex on them so we could still see them in the swirl and the fighters went a-swinging. Downed several fairly easily and the rest took off.

Dubious-looking nature scene down one passage proved to be an illusion with squinting, and the ceiling set to fall if you let the door swing shut running down towards it, which we, not being entirely stupid, did not do.

Then found a room split by an active lava-fissure and a couple suspect flames around a metal trunk on the far side. We started jumping the fissure and the flames turned out to be little salamander guys - snakey multi-armed guys on fire. One got some nasty hits on Parna, who was looking quite at risk until he jumped back. Dizyk meanwhile had fallen down fissure, luckily hitting a cooled crusty patch, and while I was fishing him out larger salamander guy *in* the fissure came after him.

All three dispatched, with much hacking and cleaving about from the fighters.

Trunk turned out to *not* hold tower-key, rather coinage, jewels, magic-scrolls, and Cloak of unknown but most intriguing powers. Also got a tin of explody ice-stones off the big salamander, to go with a set of magic-wall beads pulled off the mantis guy earlier. Not bad haul, but not progress.

Was in fine shape myself but rest of party quite battered even with healing, and Matsuko dry of magic for the day. Argued around a bit over a safe place to hole up but eventually passed safe night under the table in the sign room.

Bunch of doors to check out - some stairs up, a drippy grown-stone cave (why all water should be there and not in ceiling of hall ten feet to left rather a nice trick) with a Dondar statue in the end. Nother cave leading off of it that was clearly *Elsewhere* - no *up*, no press of stone above, not just twisted, just, no sense of it, and it kept going floor-wise much further than it should have without running into the hall beside. Messed Up, that place was. Besides various new doors and corridors, a few rooms back we didn't thoroughly clear (mural door, some shut doors, dark-dimming cave). Two keys and we've crumbing done fire now; water, cold, zappy, heavy, fast-moving, dark, heavy, hidden - can hardly wait.
