Cor's Secret Diary

Well, nobody died.

Note to self: *the wolf*. All good plans will account for the wolf. Also: the barbarian. Terrific fighting power, bit incautious, might work well to come up with more advance plans. Also: one blow from some of these things *will* take some of my companions down. *Not* remote contingency: plan for.

It would figure that it's plants. And, yup, the druid did real well, stretching its mouth open somehow so we could see Grettir was still alive but paralyzed in its gullet. Also, later, Quicksilver.

The damn thing was like a huge - *huge* - shambling mound, only with teeth. Fire from Quicksilver and Matsuko, some big slices from Dizyk, and one lucky punch from me at the end did manage to take it down, but barely. Healed about as soon as anything touched it, healed partway at least, we'd probably killed it twice over by the end. Three times if you count Grettir cutting his way out, carrying Quicksilver.

Another note: Quicksilver obvious recipient of fly magic (and doubt could convince her otherwise), yet Quicksilver not strong enough to carry any other downed party member. Hmm.

Did pick up some coin and sparklies. Also fruit. And beets!

M. Matsushita Oct0703 Unknown

Oct0703 morning
Location: Unknown
Direction: Unknown

After nearly twelve hours of failure, we finally succeeded in locating Matsuko Matsushita. Her exact position is still unknown, but she seems to have found her way into an underground cavern, perhaps part of a larger network. The environment is dwarven-made, but has evident connections to the travelling and/or the dreaming--perhaps Matsushita arrived by these means. It was also overgrown by an unnatural and perhaps magical vegetation.

We were unable to learn anything else of the network, but Joran is trying to determine whether this cavern is, in fact, a part of the known system. If so, we believe he will be able to observe--and eventually intercept--her travels.

Still accounted for: Olc Aiche, Faile, the Eagle scimitar, and the full set of Eogabul's gifts.

During the prescribed period, we witnessed an encounter involving Matsushita, a large vegetative creature, and five unknown persons:

  1. ordinary female dwarven monk
  2. female elven mage (transmuter?)
  3. small human male (rogue?)
  4. large male human barbarian
  5. large male human fighter (military?)

Though Matsushita interacted very little with the others, she spoke often with the elven mage, who aided her in getting Olc Aiche across a chasm guarded by the plant creature. She made no attempt to interfere with the creature until it endangered and then critically injured the mage, at which point she warped the creature's mouth and attacked it with a flaming sphere. When they finally defeated the creature, the fighter (who had also been ingested by the creature), broke free carrying the mage. Matsushita immediately healed her. We terminated contact.

It is unlikely that these five persons are companions of Matsushita, though the elven mage seems a prior associate. Matsushita's use of fire in a vegetative environment seems indicative of an unusual concern for this mage. We will likely not be able to identify the human rogue or the barbarian, but Corienne is attempting to track information on the others through the ordinary channels. Immediately prior to the healing, we heard the elf referred to as "Quicksilver."

Next scry scheduled in 06h00m.
