Part 3
Some of the less cave-happy people decided they weren't up for another cave crawl, possibly because the druid pointed out how the new caves had been opened up by a giant tunner bored through the rock by something large, so we hung around a couple days before going into the Illendi caverns. Am in good shape after that bit of training... starting to really be able to pack a punch, and I finally figured out that slow fall thing. Everyone else looking good too.
So, went down to the Illendi cave complex. Found a metal seal in the floor with a design that looked a little like the signet rings we took off Senet and co. Cedar said it still had a weak magical residue or whatever it is. Some worries that it could whisk people across the continent or something. So good old Cor checks it out. I poked it, touched it with the rings, and eventually stepped on it - was not whisked across the continent, but did have something slimy and unspeakably disgusting *schlump* down on me from the grating above. Just barely managed to knock it aside. So I hit it and it ate through my glove... was glad we had bought those. Other people attacked it and it was acid-burning their weapons away, but eventually it turned opaque and dried up. Ugh. Couldn't figure anything out about the floor thing, plus which we were promptly attacked by goblins with big horns on their noses. Barg in particular got some good hits in on them - had a moment of panic when Kanton was starting to loot the bodies and saw their wounds closing, but once actually dead they seemed to stay dead.
In the room beyond found a sort of elevator - door on the floor below was broken, so we could get in to that floor. Wanted to head down but Barg was bent on exterminating the goblinthing race, or something, so paused to take care of that. Expedition not so informative yet as was hoping - floor-thingy room had a carved panorama scene of the Illendi home, maybe? Worn down mountains, going down to the sea. Interesting, but was hoping for some good creation mythology or important legends or something (specially those that might shed light on What The Heck They Want Here). But of course they're not just going to hand us something like that.
