(con't. from previous entry) ... They eventually made some compelling arguments, so we backed it up in time and I considered that if the party really sniffed out the ambush, the ambushers would leave and catch them later on the road. The party did not sniff them out. They failed almost every roll until eventually the puma (which the druid befriended a few days back) started "stalking" one of the "hidden" Siarrans. The fight was on. The party did remarkably well, getting very few hits, though being softened up a little until Senet appeared. A dramatic scene in the fight-- the characters gang up on one of the baddies, drop him, and as he falls over backward, Senet is standing behind him, two arms crossed and glaring: "Leave the girl."
Senet did fairly well, considering that three characters immediately surrounded him and began attacking, including one quite damaging critical hit. He still managed to beat several players to within an inch of consciousness before he decided to pull back ... at which point he simply turned around, dove, and disappeared. Kanton took a shot at catching Senet by casting a spell that makes plants grow to entangle, but Senet had either left the area or managed to beat the spell. The characters were suitably freaked, except for the monk in the party, who was at a remove from that part of the fight, and watched it... "Damn, those are some *great* moves." The party gathered Siarrah, who kept seeing Senet out in the woods, though the party didn't. The party decided to clear out of the forest and onto the plain where they'd be able to see Senet coming (hopefully), and sure enough, as they were leaving Senet was harassing them-- throwing sticks at Barg, and popping up occaisionally to be seen. As we closed the session, Senet was seen turning back into the woods.
